A lot of people when they come to Sorrento Peninsula only go to Sorrento and miss places like Massa Lubrense. Although Massa Lubrense is not as well known as Sorrento offers the most beautiful landscapes and excursions of the Sorrento Peninsula, just think of Jeranto, Punta della Campanella, Crapolla...
Beyond this Massa Lubrense is a town rich in traditions, festivals and most of them are in summer.
In July there are some of the most important:
On July 2nd is celebrated “La Madonna delle Grazie“ and in the square of Massa Lubrense there are some stands and in the evening, after the mass there is the procession.
In Pastena , another small hamlet on July 7th is celebrated "Madonna delle Grazie" and on July 8th and 9th there is "Pastena in Festa" , a food festival.
From 11 to 14 July there is the lemon festival and there will be stands, restaurants, bars or shops, that offer food made with lemon such as lemon pizza, lemon risotto...
In Aquara , a small hamlet of Massa Lubrense,on July 14th is celebrated "San Vito"and for this there is a procession.
On July 21st in Termini is celebrated " San Costanzo" the Patron Saint of Termini and there is a procession, but also there is the Potatoes Festival on July 21st and 22nd.
There is another important procession on July 26 in Torca, another hamlet of Massa Lubrense. On this occasion is celebrated Sant’Anna, Patron Saint of Torca.
So as you can see Massa is full of tradition and I think discovering the traditions of other places is a very nice thing because you can really immerse yourself in that culture.
